Tambopata Expeditions / Macaw Clay Lick Chuncho
Tambopata Expeditions: Macaw clay Lick chuncho and Sandoval Lake
We organize excursions according to your preferences. We mainly offer excursions within the Tambopata National Reserve simply because you will have much higher chances to observe wildlife, from small insects to large mammals, from tiny flowers to huge trees very, some over 500 years old.
We can go for a very full day from 7:00am to 7:00pm, or we can go for 2, 3, or 4 days out in the jungle, spending amazing nights spotting black Caymans and night creatures (which is much better). Of course we go for canoe trips in the afternoons around the Lake looking for wildlife, (birds, turtles, monkeys, sloths, and a group of giant river otters). We do walks during the mornings where we like to talk about the local economic activities such as gold mining, selective logging, agriculture, the brazil nut harvesting, and of course, the ecotourism which has grown the past few years. We also like to share what we know about the medicinal plants. You will have the opportunity to try some of them and see how they taste. We show you the difference between the second-growth forest and the primary forest, or“ancient woodland” (there is a big difference!).
We focus on YOUR expectations. At the hostel we have a lot of information about the places where we go, step by step with all the details with maps and pictures to give you a better idea where you can go.
I will pick you up from the airport, we come to the Hostel, we can leave things what you do not really need for this trip. We will take a car to Infierno native community to take the boat up the Tambopata crossing the first check point to reach to our first destination, the first night is going to be in a tent with a local family at the Condenado Community. The first night we will look for Caymans along the river bank.
