Day 1: Welcome to Puerto Maldonado – Collpas Tambopata Inn

  • Arrive in Puerto Maldonado, capital of Madre de Dios, and join a 2-hour bus and a 1/2 boat journey to the lodge. A local welcome drink and a short friefing about the lodge will be served.
  • Collpas Tambopata Inn awaits – a spacious friendy eco-lodge, with bar, a swimming pool, and buffet service in the limit of National Reserve of Tambopata, being the fartest lodge from Puerto Maldonado surrounded by monkeys and several bird species.
  • Accommodation includes rooms from 24 mts to 68 mts suites with a private bathroom and an open window facing the forest.

DAY 2:  Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, sounds and colors

  • Wildlife in the Amazon takes advantage of the first lights of the day as it is cooler, so we do. Even if you are on vacation there will be some activities that our guides encourage you to make it very early in the morning and it’s worth it.
  • All year around, dozens of large macaws and hundreds of parrots congregate on this large river bank in a raucous and colorful spectacle that inspired a National Geographic cover story od course much better in the dry season. Discretely located sixty to eighty meters from the cliff, we will observe Green-winged, Scarlet, and Blue-and-gold Macaws and several species of smaller parrots descend to ingest clay. Outings are at dawn when the lick is most active. Breakfast will be served in front of the macaw Clay Lick Chuncho
  • We will propose to go for a river adventure, we will go for Kayaking in the river or the stream depending on your expectation, is a beautiful activity also with big chances to see Capibaras, turttles and river birds during this two hours activity.
  • hiking out at night when most of the insects are active is our plan. Much easier to find are frogs with shapes and sounds as bizarre as their natural histories. Spiders, tarantulas and even maybe a snake is possible to see.

Day 3: Sandoval Oxbow Lake Protected!

  • After a good breakfast, we will make the journey back to Puerto Maldonado, boat and car, once we arrive in the city we will move to the main port and begin another cruise within the reserve, this time our destination is the famous and beautiful Sandoval Lake.
  • This is an oxbow lake in Tambopata national reserve. After approximately 45 minutes by boat, we started a 3 km hike through the forest until you reach the shore of the Lake. Since starting our tour we will visit this beautiful body of water, the place is spectacular, many birds, very good opportunity to see a lots of monkeys of several species such as the red howler monkey, brown capuchin, squirrel monkey, dusky tity and saddle back tamarin.
  • We install in our partner lodge, and return to the Lake to receive one of the most beautiful sunsets of the Amazon, we’ll stay until the evening on the Lake, because in the dark night you will be able to see the black Caiman is the largest of the rainforest crocodiles, reaching more than 5 m long, and they love the Lakes. With flashlights you can observe them closely and take good photos.

Day 4: Sandoval Lake Goodbye to the amazon ¡

  • Another day of waking up early but highly recommended, will leave at 5:30 in the morning to visit again the Sandoval Lake, in a beautiful sunrise and awakening of many of the animals that are very active this morning. Also we’ll have great chance to see the Giant river Otters. 50% of chances to see them.
  • We will paddle across the western part of the Lake, with its beautiful palm trees of more than 30 meters high, reflected in the water aguajales, this will leave you full of memories of your last day in the Amazon jungle. Return to lodge, breakfast and transfer to the Bank of the River to subsequently be brought back to the city of Puerto Maldonado in time for your flight return or bus ride. Includes B & L
